He's off!

Thunderstorms delayed Al's planned 4 AM departure time until 5:45.  He pushed off in the rain and is making good time after a refueling stop at Pitch Pine Point.

4 AM

Dear Fellow Travellers,

A bad translation of Mary Travers (of Peter, Paul & Mary):

My boat is packed,

I'm ready to go,

It's in the boathouse,

At 4-oh-oh -

Hated to wake up to say goodbye,

But there's lightning

And thunder booming!

Don't know when I'll be casting off ...

Really, I'm not pushing off into lightning ... not when I can drink coffee in the boathouse. My Google machine says it may lift by dawn (5:18), so I'll wait awhile.

A bummer of a start, but as they say in aviation,

"I'd rather be down here wishing I was up there

Than up there wishing I was down here."

xxoo, Al

6/5 8:50 PM  Past bedtime!

Heading out tomorrow AM! Gonna try for a 4 AM start in hopes to get well to the south of Champlain by tomorrow night.

Much organizing and packing … I discarded more than I’ve packed, so that’s something. Hoping for a nice south breeze and some good luck.

What a joy to swim in our beautiful lake tonight …. How lucky I am!

Till tomorrow,

Al
